Meet our Ambassadors
Andrew became Chief Executive Officer of GlaxoSmithKline plc on 21 May 2008. He is a member of the Board and Corporate Executive Team.
Carol Burke graduated from Liverpool University in 1990 undertaking various placements within British Steel during her studies. On graduation she joined GKN Axles progressing through roles as foreman, Production Manager, Works Manager and Business Manager, and finally implementing a new factory making axles for the Vauxhall Frontera.
Colin Smith was appointed Group President, Rolls-Royce, plc on 1st January 2016.
Colin became Director – Engineering & Technology in 2005, when he was also appointed a member of the Board of Rolls-Royce. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Research & Technology for the company, building on his previous experience as Director of Engineering & Technology for Civil Aerospace.
Paul Kahn is President of Airbus Group UK. He is responsible for the UK business; providing leadership, oversight and co-ordination of Airbus Group’s activities and strategy in the UK. Paul is also responsible for the development of the Group’s strategic industrial partnerships within the UK, key customer relationships, and for enhancing Airbus Group’s relationship with the British Government.
Matt began his career with Johnson & Johnson as a Graduate Sales and Marketing Trainee in 1992. He subsequently worked for Kraft Foods and Rank Hovis McDougall (now part of Premier Foods) in a variety of commercial marketing, category and sales roles. In 2004 Matt joined Bernard Matthews as Marketing & Strategy Director, where he helped to turnaround and rebuild the family owned business that suffered a series of brand reputation and corporate business crises.
Jon graduated from Newcastle Polytechnic in 1984 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and was sponsored by British Steel from the age of 17. He worked during vacations from college on Teesside and for 5 years after graduating he held various positions in operations for British Steel on Teesside, including a two year spell as a shift engineer in steelmaking.
Jon left Teesside to be the Chief Engineer for the company's rail business based in Cumbria in 1989, and then moved to North Wales to be Chief Engineer for British Steel Coated Products for two years.
Based on a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering and an MBA, Priyanka has had stellar career in technology businesses through roles across strategy, business development and sales, leading to her current position as Head of Sales, across key industry verticals – Communication, Media and Information Services in UK &I at Tata Consultancy Services, strong supporters of Industrial Cadets and its drive to inspire young people into STEM careers.
James has worked at Amec Foster Wheeler, Weir Starchan & Henshaw, Meynell Valves, NNC. He started out as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice at NNC in Warrington.
During his time as an Engineering Programmes and Higher Education Manager James Integrated educational needs of the business with long term business plans.
Tony is responsible for the development and talent management of Graduates and Apprentices across the UK in the Building, Civil Engineering, Power, Rail, Utilities and Building Services sectors across the UK. Tony Manages a team to design and develop talent programmes, construct and continuously improve talent tools, identify and measure talent and work with senior and line managers to deliver consistent and objective emerging talent management in a multi-site, UK-wide environment.
Tom Pritt, Head of Engineering at Jacobs UK Ltd has been a key figure in developing Jacob’s Industrial Cadet activity in Cumbria. He has been delighted at the way that the accreditation has enhanced the value of the existing Jacobs Workplace Experience programme.
Simon is a Senior Manager within the Corporate Responsibility team at Arm Holdings PLC where he leads on global STEM education programmes and local community investment across Arm’s 45 offices in 19 countries around the world.
Simon has been involved in sustainability and corporate responsibility since 2008. Prior to that he spent 12 years with accountancy firm PwC advising on risk management working extensively across Europe, Africa and Australasia.
Sanjeev Gupta is an international businessman and entrepreneur, heading a global enterprise with activities spanning steel production, engineering, power generation, banking, and commodities trading.
With over 37 years service within the construction industry, Neville's focus since 1993 has been on project & design management within the railway stations & tunnels environment. He has excellent communication skills and is able to build healthy working relationships with persons at all levels.
Mark Stewart was born in 1962, in Glasgow and after completing his Honours Degree in Industrial Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management in 1985 from the University of Strathclyde, Mark joined British Aerospace’s Commercial Aircraft business at Prestwick as a Personnel Officer.
Janice Munday CBE
Ms. Janice Munday, CBE served as Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Services for the UK Department of Business Innovation and Skills. Ms. Munday was responsible for working with a wide range of companies across multiple sectors and with local areas to encourage growth and productivity. Working in partnership with business Ms. Munday saw the creation and implementation of approximately 20 strategies all with key commitments on skills development.
Ian was appointed Group Chief Engineer in April 2017, leading the Engineering function across Rolls-Royce. Ian has undergraduate and doctorate degrees from Cambridge and a Masters degree from Stanford. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a Visiting Professor at Newcastle University.
Chris began his career with Access, the Joint Credit Card Company, as a Software Engineer in 1982. He subsequently worked for the Bank of England in 1986, and then a series of US software manufacturers since 1988 in a variety of software engineering and sales roles. In 2000, Chris focused on Sales and had a number of commercial leadership roles, culminating with his appointment as Managing Director for the UK & Ireland business in 2007. Chris joined RSA in 2018 and leads their business for the UK & Ireland.
