How to enter
To make a nomination, please download the appropriate form at the side of this page (for multiple nominations please use separate forms). Nominations will be accepted between 9th October and 5pm 10th November. Nominees must have either participated, completed or have been involved in an Industrial Cadets programme between 9th December 2016 and 3rd November 2017.
Please follow the guidance notes on each Nomination Form. These have been included as a guide, but will help you to include all information needed to meet the criteria for the category you are submitting a nomination form. You can also take a look at our Hints & Tips video (to the side of this page).
Nominations that are shortlisted by our external moderators will be judged by a judging panel. Details of this process will be sent out to all nominees. To find out more about this process, please email awards@industrialcadets.org.uk
Individuals (Cadets)
Cadet of the Year: Showcasing an outstanding cadet, an individual who has embraced the opportunity afforded by participating in the programme and is deemed to have enhanced their understanding and sense of opportunity for future development.
Criteria for this award include - demonstrating awareness of the way the company functions and career opportunities available to them, shown impact on performance of their employer, demonstrated initiative, appetite for knowledge and willingness to learn.
Rising Star of the Year: Showcasing a young cadet whom demonstrates the characteristics and willingness to progress and shows the ability to communicate and work as part of a team.
Criteria for this award include - showing career awareness, demonstrated team work and communication, ability to work as part of a team, willingness to learn
Cadet Advocate of the Year: Showcasing an Alumni Cadet demonstrating use of own network to promote Industrial Cadets and raise awareness with employer. Has actively been involved with activities to promote the programme to cadets and employers but can also evidence progression as an Industrial Cadet and the use of their cadet status to give something back to their employer and/or school.
Criteria for this award include - evidence of encouraging young people into STEM via the IC programme, given their own time to promote IC by their own experience, can show professional/personal development as a result of their experience, given something back to their employer/college/school.
School/College
School/College of the Year: Highlighting excellence in the approach by an educational establishment in participating within Industrial Cadets and the general promotion of the agenda to the next generation of employees and industry leaders.
Criteria for this award include - promotion of IC to other schools, plans for future developments of IC in the school, evidence of STEM champion.
Individuals (Manager/Employer)
Change Maker of the Year: Celebrating the individual (manager/employer) who has made a significant and impactful difference to support the success of the Industrial Cadets initiative.
Criteria include - to be awarded to the employee (such as manager), how they have developed/had input into the IC programme within the organisation, number of students benefiting from changes, influence within organisation in the support/increase of L&D for young people.
Organisation
Employer of the Year: The premier award for employers who have demonstrated outstanding engagement with young people and the Industrial Cadets initiative. Illustrating best practice in employer engagement on the work experience STEM agenda, recognising the quality of experience, depth of learning and corporate commitment to the overarching agenda.
Criteria include - demonstration of impact on employer and students, plans for continued student involvement, evidence of close working with young people, L&D of young people.
SME Employer of the Year: The premier award for SME employers who have demonstrated outstanding engagement with young people and the Industrial Cadets initiative. Illustrating best practice in employer engagement on the work experience STEM agenda, recognising the quality of experience, depth of learning and corporate commitment to the overarching agenda.
Criteria include - demonstration of impact on employer and students, plans for continued student involvement, evidence of close working with young people, L&D of young people.
